Vivian Chong Bio
Vivian Chong is an artist, potter, sculptor, painter, singer song writer, playwright, theatre creator, actor, dancer, drummer, filmmaker, comic book author, and tri-athlete
She was a Dora theatre award nominee and finalist of Toronto book award. She teaches accessible yoga and is the youth leader for the blind and partially sighted community. Vivian is passionate about accessible theatre and art, She is an audio description consultant to help others enjoy art.
December 2015 Vivian’s one woman show "The Sunglasses Monologue" was spotlighted at Second City theatre and followed by her tour of the show to Kenmore Alberta. The show was remount as a digital show during pandemic time at next stage theatre festival.
April 2020 Her show "Dancing With The Universe" featuring her original songs, choreography, and monologue was part of the CoMMotion art and disability festival.
December 2020 Vivian's graphic memoir "Dancing After TEN" was shortlisted for the Toronto Book Award. She also made an accessible version for people with print disability. It is available at Cela Library.
September 2022, her ceramic sculpture "Catcher" was featured at a group exhibition at the Gardiner Museum of Arts in Toronto.
In July 2023, her paintings were selected for a collective show at Jewish Community Center as part of the Fringe Festival for community engagement.
November 2023 She was a key note speaker in Mexico for Otros Territorios Encuentro de Artes festival.
February 2024 Movie "Strong Woman" was featured on the digital platform at Common Boots Theatre.
In August 2024, Vivian was the artist on residence for Unicamp Ontario. Creating arts with families at the campsite.
In February 2025, her latest one woman show, Blind Dates, achieved 25 sold out performances. Writen, performed, and composed by Vivian the show brings laughter, activism, and love to Toronto. The show went on tour in March to Market Hall in Peterborough.
In June 2025 Vivian has a lead role in the theatre show "Neither Here Nor There" at the Prairie Theatre Exchange in Winnipeg Manitoba.
